In this post I will talk about my Project 2 Rough Draft.
My project is a standard college essay focused on writing as a researcher in the microbiology field. I am looking for feedback on my conclusion because I do not like how it sounds right now. I also feel like my paper could use an extra paragraph but I do not know what it should be on. Here is a google doc to my rough draft feel free to rip it apart and leave harsh comments on this blog post.
Hey Nicholas, I'm going to peer review you solely on your form or the genre convention of the Standard College Essay (I'll be using MLA as my guide).
ReplyDeleteRight now, your paper has the backbones of MLA, but it is missing a few crucial conventions. Firstly, I would delete the extra spaces between paragraphs. Secondly, your name on the upper left of the paper should be in this order: Name, Professor Name, Course Number, Date (Day, Month, Year). Here is an example of that format for you.

Make sure that all of that is single spaced. Also, the space between your title and the content of the paper must be single spaced.
I'm not very sure if the "creativity" section of this review applies to the Standard College Essay. The genre for the SCE is very strict, and any deviation of it seems to get punished by the rubric. I would just try and adhere very strictly to what MLA wants, and do not put your creative outlook on it. The main creativity aspect of the SCE comes from the content, not the form.
In the next draft of your project, I would review the rules for MLA and make sure you follow it very closely. As said in class, the website https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/ is super helpful in learning the details on how to follow MLA. If you follow these suggestions, you will score higher on your genre conventions :). Good luck with the revising process, if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me.
by the way, here is an example sample MLA paper from Purdue Owl:

Hey I made a typo. The third paragraph should read double spaced instead of single spaced.
