The first interview I held was with Dr. Andre-Denis Wright. Over is 20-year career Dr. wright has held numerous positions all over the world. He started off as a Research Group Leader at the Australian Government's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO). After that, he was Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Animal Science at the University of Vermont with joint appointments with the Department of Medicine, and the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. Currently he is a professor at the University of Arizona. He also is the director of the School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences at The University of Arizona.
Over this extensive career Dr. Wright has published over 100 peer reviewed papers, 17 book chapters, and over 90 conference papers. As a professor, he has written a countless amount of PowerPoint presentations. Furthermore, he serves on the editorial boards of 5 journals and has a ciliated protozoan named after him, Apokeronopsis wright, in recognition of his contributions to microbiology.
The second interview was with Dr. Michael Riggs. Dr. Riggs has also had an extensive career starting at the University of Florida and ending at the University of Arizona splitting time between teaching, research, and clinical service appointments. He has many accomplishments including membership on the USDA NRI Competitive Grants Program and NIH AIDS-Related Opportunistic Infections Study Sections, and a federal appointment as Chair of the Immunology/Parasitology/Production Disease/Toxicology Study Section for the USDA NRI Competitive Grants Program. Audience Questions
How did you decide to use form to present your content in the raw material you’ve shared here? How did the conventions of your chosen genre influence your choices?
The genre I chose for this project was a Standard College Essay. This genre influenced my choices in presenting my material because there is little creativity needed. College essays have a very rigid and boring structure so following that structure was not a problem. I did not do anything special but write an essay so my form is very generic.
How did the production of this raw material go? What kinds of any hiccups, challenges, successes, creative epiphanies, etc. occurred during the process?
The production went very smoothly. Typing a paper has never been a problem for me so I did not have many challenges. The only real challenge was incorporating my interview and content in a way that is not extremely boring for my audience.
